Peak Shaving / Load Leveling
During off-peak electricity consumption periods, the diesel engine charges the battery. During peak hours, the battery discharges to replenish power, enabling the diesel engine to operate within a stable and efficient range.
Mitigating Sudden Load Changes
When large equipment is suddenly started (such as water pumps, compressors) or suddenly shut down, batteries can instantaneously provide or absorb power to prevent voltage drops or frequency fluctuations. At the same time, it reduces the capacity demand of the generator set and saves costs.
Black Start Capability
After a total blackout, the battery can power control systems and starter circuits to enable the diesel generator to restart without external grid support.
Generator Life Extension
Reduces generator cycling and avoids prolonged low-load operation (which causes wet stacking), extending engine life and cutting maintenance.
Renewable Integration Smoothing
When solar or wind is integrated, batteries smooth intermittent renewable output, reducing the need for diesel generator ramping and increasing renewable penetration.
